Apollo
August Pet of the Month

Apollo is a four year old English Bulldog who presented for a dog fight. He was attacked by his housemate then brought to AMC for supportive care. Apollo was immediately put on medication for shock, antibiotics, pain medication, and intravenous fluids. Apollo was sent home and returned for a recheck. Upon his recheck he was squinting. His eyes were tested and he was diagnosed with bilateral corneal ulcerations. He was then put on medication and sent home. Apollo came back a few days later for another recheck and then was hospitalized so that he could get his eye medication every 2 hours. Apollo stayed at AMC for approximately 10 days. During his stay dispite the medication at proper intervals his eyes ended up rupturing. Therefore additional pain medication was given to Apollo. Surgery was performed to try and save some of his vision as well as make him a little more comfortable. After surgery was performed Apollo was sent home and rechecked two weeks later. Upon recheck he was able to see and not squinting anymore.
