Butler July Pet of the Month
Butler is an 11 year old Pitbull that presented for vomiting for a day. Upon examination, a softball sized mass was palpated in his abdomen. Radiographs were taken to further identify the mass. An ultrasound was scheduled and bloodwork processed. The ultrasound showed the mass was attached to the spleen, and there was no spread of the tumor to any other organs. The bloodwork was within the normal limits except the WBC which were high indicating an infection or inflammation. He was admitted to the AMC and started on intravenous fluids and antibiotics. Butler was taken to surgery and his spleen and the tumor were removed. A sample of the tumor was sent to the laboratory for analysis. Butler made a complete recovery and is back to his normal routine. Shown below are the pictures of the radiograph, ultrasound, and the actual tumor.
