Maggie - Snake Bite


Maggie is a one year old hound mix that presented with a snake bite.  She was taken to EVC and given 2 bottles of antivenin.  The next day she was brought to the AMC for three days of intravenous fluids, pain medication, and antibiotics.  When Maggie came to the AMC she had severe facial swelling, was very painful, and there was bruising inside her mouth.  Two puncture wounds were visible near her eyes.  Upon admission, bloodwork was performed which showed a high WBC indicating inflammation and/or infection.











Maggie is shown here on her fourth day ready to go home!  A little swelling still remains, but Maggie is feeling a lot better.
