Rizzo

This is Rizzo.  She had been neglected and ended up in a local rescue.  She had been spayed but was having health problems.  She was brought to us for a second opinion, having been treated for vaginal prolapse which recurred.  Histologic testing revealed Rizzo had a sexually transmitted disease called Transmissable Venereal Tumor (TVT).  This caused her vulva to be ulcerated and deformed.  Luckily, this is usually curable with chemotherapy.  She also was malnurished and had a severe respiratory infection.  She was hospitalized for two weeks and returned for weekly chemotherapy treatments.  By the second treatment she was showing significant improvement.  During her recovery Rizzo gained weight, her coat became full and shiny, her respiratory infection and her venereal disease cleared up.
