Freckles
Freckles is a 10 year old mix breed dog that was brought to the AMC due to a severe case of heartworm disease. He was hospitalized, an intravenous catheter was placed, and IV fluids administered. Freckles was was in end stage heart failure and was in a terminal situation. An emergency surgery was performed as a last resort to try and remove the adult heartworms. We were able to remove a portion of the adult heartworms, which seemed to be enough to stabilize Freckles. Freckles was in critical condition in the hospital for 7 days. He is currently on a treatment plan to stabilize his heart and treat the remaining heartworms. Freckles is doing wonderful today.
