Ralph February 2008 Pet of the Month
This is Ralph at his recheck appointment almost completely healed.
Ralph is a four year old mix breed dog that presented to the AMC for a dog attack. He was brought to the AMC immediately following the attack and was admitted for emergency treatment. Ralph had an intravenous catheter placed and medications administered for pain and shock and antibiotics were also given. Ralph was monitored for the day then sent to Florida Veterinary Referral Center so that he could be monitored closely over night. He then returned in the morning to the AMC for continued care. By the second day he was more stable and able to undergo anesthesia to shave and treat his wounds. The IV medications were discontinued and he was started on oral antibiotics and pain medications. Ralph was discharged the next day and his owners continued his treatments at home. He has made a complete recovery and is very happy to be home with his family.
Below are pictures of Ralph with his wounds shaved and cleaned.
