Maya
October Pet of Month


Maya is a ten month old Newfoundland puppy.  When she was four months old she came to AMC for her spay, while she was under anesthesia her hips were palpated and she had a positive ortolani response in both hips, and was diagnosed with hip dysplasia.  Within 3 weeks she was developing lameness in her hind legs.  Hip radiographs were taken and a consultation with Dr. Berger, a veterinary orthopedic surgeon, was scheduled.  A TPO (Triple Pelvic Osteotomy) was performed on her right leg in April 2007, then six weeks later in May 2007 her left hip was repaired.  Maya has made a full recovery and is doing wonderful today.
